Hidden Track

A hardworking farmhouse.

Project overview

Being exceptionally sustainability-minded, these clients wanted to achieve a net-zero, high-resilience build. After considering both new construction and renovation work, the couple settled on an affordable and modest intervention to reuse as much of their current home as possible. These schemes represent the scope of conceptual design.

Site

The 11 acre property was a former warm-up race track in North Saanich, on Vancouver Island, BC. The couple purchased the land to utilize the space for farming: vegetables, flowers, and animals. Being a former functional landscape, the property already had grading and drainage features, and a variety of fenced pastures and accessory buildings to utilize.
